Guide to DuPont Thinners



There are several thinners available from Intech Services specifically designed to be used with the DuPont Teflon® Industrial solvent based coatings. 
Thinners are generally used for clean up of spray guns, paint pots, spray lines, and other equipment used in the spray process. Thinners such as TN-8595 are designed with fast evaporating solvents to allow for ease of use and efficient clean-up.  
Thinners are also used for viscosity reduction of the coating material for projects that require a thin dry film thickness. A general rule of thumb is to add 1%-2% thinner by volume up to a maximum of 5%.   Thinners should always be added slowly under constant stirring.  
For water-based products, we always recommend using deionized water. Tap water can contain salts, minerals, and contaminants that can precipitate out and cause imperfections in the final finished coating.  Deionized water has these contaminants removed.
