As you know DuPont committed to no longer make, use, or buy PFOA by 2015 or earlier if possible. DuPont’s investment in its Industrial Fluoropolymer business is bringing you products manufactured without PFOA much earlier than 2015. DuPont’s GenX technology is already being sold exclusively for their industrial specialty systems products and will be rolling out in more products this year.
While competitors continue to experience raw material supply issues, raise prices, and focus the majority of their efforts overseas, DuPont is focusing on moving their industrial product line to their patented GenX technology for North America.
DuPont’s new GenX polymerization technology is a more sustainable solution that is comprised of a new processing aid with a favorable toxicological profile and very rapid bio-elimination, combined with unique environmental exposure control technologies that reduce the potential for environmental release and exposure. DuPont has received appropriate regulatory approvals to make and use our new polymerization technology. This enables DuPont and our customers to continue to meet exacting end-use requirements.
Based on internal testing, DuPont expects that the new products can be used as replacements for the historical products with minimal processing adjustments.
As always, thank you for your continued business with DuPont. We are pleased to bring you new offerings that meet the sustainability goals of our industry and stakeholders. We are committed to working closely with you and your customers to develop integrated qualification and commercialization plans for these products.
DuPont plans to release GenX versions of the following products in 2011/2012. Please contact Chris Dohl at Intech Services with any questions (302-366-8530/chris@intechservices.com)
