GenX Transition: 851G-224

GenX: DuPont has committed to no longer make, buy or use perfluorooctanoic acid, (PFOA) by 2015, or earlier if possible. A new DuPont technology includes a processing aid that enables DuPont to make fluoropolymers without the use of PFOA. With this new technology, DuPont has commercialized products for Industrial Fluoropolymers.

Intech will be converting customers to the use of fluoropolymers made with GenX technology as these products become available and as our stock of the current products are depleted.  We will make announcements as each one of our products transition to the new GenX product.  The codes for the products are also transitioning.

Based on internal testing, DuPont expects that the new products can be used as replacements for the historical products with minimal processing adjustments.

Please also note that sales of these products will now be priced and packaged in kilograms (kg) instead of liquid weights (gallons).

Products being transitioned:                   New Code:

Powder Primer Coating: 532G-42551

DuPont's 532G-42551 is a powder primer developed as an alternative to solvent based primers, for use in combination with FEP & PFA powders.

Some advantages are:

* Smaller environmental footprint than the solvent based primers
* Eliminates the primer drying step
*Builds thickness eastily so only one layer of FEP or PFA topcoat is needed to achieve 80 pm(less than 3mils) requiring only 1 cure cycle (powders being applied dry on dry)

ALMOST A TON of ETFE IN STOCK at INTECH

We know last years sold out position of ETFE caused issues with many coaters loyal to Dupont’s™ ETFE product line.  For this we cannot apologize enough, and have positioned almost a TON of ETFE inventory to ensure consistent supply in 2012.    Intech is stocking, clear, green, pearl, and permeation resistant beige ETFE topcoats in 2012.  Dupont’s™ ETFE’s have superior thermal stability and chemical resistance over its competition.

Dupont’s™ ETFE offerings allow for thin-film systems (3-10mils), to thick film systems (up to 40mils) for thick-film systems.  Thicker systems finishes are tough, seamless, and without pinholes making it perfect for chemical environments.

Dupont™ offers various forms of ETFE, giving your end-users multiple benefits while enabling applicators flexibility with their application and, Dupont’s™ technical team hasn’t finished giving their customers more ETFE options.  In the third quarter Dupont™ will be launching a new powder primer and a higher build topcoat to its already robust ETFE product line.

Current products are in stock and can ship next day:

  • 699N-129  Black liquid ETFE primer
  • 699-205  Liquid Permeation Resistant Pearl
  • 532- 6118  Permeation Resistant Sparkling Beige
  • 532-6200  Ultra smooth White
  • 532-6210  Ultra smooth Clear
  • 532-6310  High Build Clear
  • 532- 6314 High Build Green

If you haven’t coated with ETFE or are unfamiliar with its benefits don’t hesitate to call Intech Services to discuss the markets where ETFE excels.  If you were a user of ETFE before last year’s stock out, I hope you’ll consider using us again for you supply.  We would appreciate the opportunity to earn our business back.
