A Quality Shop Spotlight Series: Film Thickness

Why should you care about Film Thickness?

  • Get the maximum performance out of your selected coating
  • Satisfy your customers' requirements/expectations
  • Save money, stop wasting coating material by building too thick

Have you ever had a customer reject your parts, costing you time and money? Most quality shops lay out the pass/fail expectations of their customers before accepting their order. We also found that more end users are requiring proof of testing. Why not demonstrate to your customers that the coatings were applied to the thickness they requested by using a Fischer® Thickness Tester. This will help you eliminate rejects and take your customer satisfaction to new levels.

Intech has taken the pain out of film thickness tester selection. Our team has worked with Fischer® Technology to have the right testers to use with Teflon® Industrial Coatings. Fischer® has over 55 years of experience and is a world leading specialist in coating thickness measurement. We’ve narrowed down their broad assortment of instruments to a few that work best in the job shop environment. These instruments can be used on a variety of metal substrates with a variety of coatings (including DuPont Teflon® Coatings) on a variety of different part geometries. They use either the magnetic induction method and/or the eddy current method of measuring. These are non-destructive ways of measuring leaving no marks on your parts.

One of our most popular testers is the Fischer® Dualscope® FMP 40. It uses both magnetic induction and eddy current methods of measurement making measuring on ferrous and non-ferrous substrates possible. It also has automatic base material and probe recognition. There’s a large selection of highly accurate and innovative probes, for use on the Dualscope® FMP 40. It has a USB port for data transfer to a PC or Printer, giving you the ability to provide your customer with a detailed report about their jobs coating thickness.

If you’re interested in taking this step toward becoming a quality shop, please give us a call. Intech will help you decide which tester will work best for your specific application.
