Tony's Recipe of the Month: Red Sauce
Tony Abato, our VP of Sales here at Intech Services, and an amazing Italian chef, will be sharing one of his delicious recipes every month. Trust us, you don't want to miss out on what Tony's cooking!
Your Basic Red
"Less is More"
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 yellow onion, cut in big thick round slices
3 garlic cloves, cut lengthwise in thick slices
2 big 28 oz. cans or 1.5 pounds fresh Roma tomatoes, peeled, cleaned, and diced in 1/4 inch pieces
2 tablespoons sugar (only use if cooking with canned tomatoes)
Salt
Pepper
Dash of crushed red pepper
3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped fine
1 cup dry white wine
Parmegiano-reggiano or asiago
Preparation:
Put on medium heat to a low boil for 10 minutes or so, stirring the pot often. Stir in the white wine and bring it to a low simmer. Stir in remaining ingredients and remove the onions.
Simmer for 30 minutes or so until you reach desired consistency. Try not to go much longer than that as this is a marinara, not a bolognese. Because there's no meat in the sauce, there isn't any oil to cook in or simmer off, so 30 minutes should do it.
This sauce is perfect with spaghetti: light enough for angel hair, and hearty enough for spaghetti. It's also great as the sauce with eggplant parmegiano or ricotta stuffed pastas.

Your Basic Red
"Less is More"
Let's not make this more
complex then it needs to be. Sauces for pasta don't to have to simmer
"all day," and they don't have to be made with long lists of hard to
find, expensive ingredients. They shouldn't come from a a jar. Jars
full of red sauce make my Grammom very sad.
The following is as
basic and pure a red sauce as you'll find. It's lite and fresh and
healthy and takes all of about 1/2 an hour to prepare.
This my "go-to
red."
Next month, I'll give you
an Intech favorite: Aglio e olio.

Pepper

3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped fine
1 cup dry white wine
Parmegiano-reggiano or asiago
Preparation:
Heat up oil and butter in a Teflon®
coated pot. Throw in the garlic and onion. Stay on top of it, flipping and
moving all the pieces around so they don't burn. When the garlic is a light
brown, remove and discard. Leave the onion in and add the tomatoes.

Quality Shop: Summer in your Shop
Summer brings heat and keeping your employees cool and hydrated is important.
Intech has added a new section to our website, “Just for Summer”. This is not just for fun, but a very fun way to stay cool under hot and humid conditions. We’re introducing a new line of MiraCool® products, Bandanas, Headbands and Tie Hats. MiraCool® technology keeps your neck or head cool all day long. Cooling crystals absorb water to work with the evaporation process. Choose from a variety of colors and patterns.

More for the shop in Just for Summer: lightweight Tyvek coveralls and half mask respirators.
Tips for Applying Coatings in the Summer:
In the summer, your fluoropolymer coatings may spray differently. Liquid coatings can be affected by humid conditions. See our Insider from last month about humid conditions.
Powder coating application can be affected by environmental changes and thunder storms. Keep an eye on barometric pressures and temperatures and how they relate to the relative bulk density of powder in the hopper. Electrical storms in your area can also affect the electrostatics and transfer efficiency of powder coatings to your parts.

Press Release: Intech Services' Key Findings on the New DuPont’s ETFE Coatings
Since DuPont released the new DuPont™ Teflon® ETFE coatings about 6 months ago, Intech Services and coating applicators have observed some helpful findings about these coatings. Findings show that the primers are superior to existing and competitive products, the topcoat applies and builds well, and the coating continues to be improved by process improvements in manufacturing.

Update on the New ETFE Coatings
As many of you are aware, DuPont introduced a new line of ETFE products at the end of 2012. The new powder primer and topcoat system (532-6405 and 532-6410) are designed to provide application and processing improvements, while continuing to provide outstanding chemical resistance and durability.
We wanted to share some of the observations and findings we have had in the first six months of this product introduction. We have been working hard to Increase the visibility and awareness of the benefits of the ETFE products, and appreciate the feedback that many of you have provided. Here are some of the things we have learned:
We wanted to share some of the observations and findings we have had in the first six months of this product introduction. We have been working hard to Increase the visibility and awareness of the benefits of the ETFE products, and appreciate the feedback that many of you have provided. Here are some of the things we have learned:
DuPont primers are superior to ECTFE primer – Both the liquid and powder primer (699G-129 and 532-6405) provide tenacious substrate and inter-coat adhesion. We have had many customers tell us that they have switched jobs to ETFE because of peeling issues with the ECTFE primer
Great application of topcoat – The 532-6410 really applies great – thick film builds per coat, as well as the ability to achieve very thick total film thickness. One customer went over 100 mils!
Topcoat great for thin film – even though the coatings build well, they are great for coatings less than 10 mils. In fact, you can probably eliminate a spray and bake step by using these new coatings.
Sales data is very helpful – the new product sales sheets are great to use with customers, engineers, and specifiers. The document describes the features and benefits of the ETFE product technology, as well as superiority to ECTFE. The application information remains in a separate Fact Sheet for coaters.
Processing improvements – We discovered that there were some large particles in the material. While these could be screened out prior to spray application, DuPont has added another screening step to the manufacturing process to alleviate this issue.
Don't forget existing coatings – The traditional ETFE products are all still available. The 532-6200 white remains still popular for dental and pharmaceutical applications.
We need your help! - We want to talk to engineers and specifies and educate them about new DuPont coating solutions. Please help us by providing us names of people who you think would like to learn about how the DuPont coatings may benefit their company. Your referrals will help generate new business for your company!
Also, we are also going to be doing end user outreach telemarketing and e-marketing campaigns to equipment manufacturers in targeted segments. Please give us ideas of where you think ETFE has value. For example, end uses like centrifuge baskets, agitators, strainers, etc. Once we compile a list, we will research manufacturers in each segment and start our outreach campaign.
Stay tuned for more product and market updates!
For more information regarding new ETFE coatings, please visit our ETFE landing page. Please feel free to utilize this landing page as a selling tool with your customers.
