Hooks: Z Hooks, TSR Hooks, and Universal Crossbar Hooks

In February, we are featuring hooks on our blog with some of our offerings from Mighty Hook. Mighty Hook manufactures hooks and racking systems to meet the specific needs of each customer for any powder or liquid industrial finishing job. Intech is proud to offer a very large and diverse line of reliable and economical hanging solutions for the industrial coating world.

Z hooks are specially designed for the Mighty Hook Z crossbar system. Z hooks are manufactured from hard drawn spring steel and help in a variety of ways to increase or speed up production. Z hooks are lower in cost than any other hook and crossbar system. There are many different styles for any application.

TSR Hooks:
TSR Hooks lock into TSR crossbars to provide simple and secure hook replacement. Hooks easily attach to the crossbar and locks into the bar once the hook is inserted and released. Custom TSR hooks can be ordered to meet your specific needs.

Universal Crossbar Hooks:
Universal Crossbar Hooks are used as replacement hooks for round dimple crossbars with 1" centers, so they can work with your existing crossbars. They are made from hard drawn spring steel and can withstand being coated and stripped multiple times. Hooks can be standard, which is perpendicular to the bar and facing forward, or 90 degrees and facing to the right.

Intech is Going Green

Intech Services knows that helping the environment and saving our natural resources is important, so we have decided to reduce our impact by filing our invoices electronically. We've cleaned out the filing cabinets and will be storing all invoices electronically from 2014 going forward. There will be no more extra copies of invoices for customers, saving a large amount of paper. For customers with emails, we also will start emailing copies of your invoices instead of printing and mailing them, thus reducing the amount of paper, envelopes, and stamps we use. This change will reduce our paper waste and lessen our effect on the environment.  Feel free to contact Megan in Customer Service with any questions.

What is your company doing to save paper and protect the environment?

Tony's Recipe of the Month: Meatballs

Tony Abato, our VP of Sales here at Intech Services, and an amazing Italian chef, will be sharing one of his delicious recipes every month. Trust us, you don't want to miss out on what Tony's cooking!

Meatballs

Ingredients:
1/3 lb ground beef
1/3 lb ground pork
1/3 lb ground veal
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup onions, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups diced Italian bread (or any other white bread you happen to have on hand)
Whole milk- enough to wet bread, squeeze out excess
1/2 cup Parmegiano Reggiano, ground into small flakes
3 tbs fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbs salt
1 tbs pepper

Eggs and browning keep the meatballs together, milky bread and crumbs keep them moist. The sauce you make can be a very basic red sauce, a marinara that you will need to cook a little longer than usual to cook the grease from the meatball off.

Preparation:

Mix everything in a big bowl. As you mix, you may want to hit it again with a little more parmesan or milky bread crumbs or any other ingredient that it needs a little more of. Go with your eyes and your nose.

The size of the meatball totally depends on personal preference, but 2 inches in diameter could work. Try not to over massage the meatball when forming it. As soon as it is shaped, set it aside and go to the next one.

Optional: As you form your meatballs, put them in one layer on a tray. Before you brown them, put the tray in the fridge for a half hour or so. The cold will firm them up and make them a little easier to handle as you put them in the frying pan. This step won't change the taste; just make you feel a little more comfortable.

Get your big Teflon® coated frying pan out. Since it's Teflon® coated, you don't need any oil on the surface. Put as many meatballs as you can fit that still gives you room to turn them over to brown. The idea here is to end up with a meatball that is browned on all sides, but not cooked through. Browning burns some of the grease off the meatball before you add it to the sauce, so you don't have a greasy sauce. It also gives a nice texture to the meatball.

When your sauce is warm, gently stir the meatballs in, put the temperature on low, and keep the lid off. When the sauce is the right consistency, the meatballs will be ready.

Keep checking the blog to see Tony's Recipe of the Month.  Did you try this recipe?  Let us know what you thought of it or if you have questions for the chef, post them below!

Hooks: Spring Hooks and Jam Hooks

In February, we are featuring hooks on our blog with some of our offerings from Mighty Hook. Mighty Hook manufactures hooks and racking systems to meet the specific needs of each customer for any powder or liquid industrial finishing job. Intech is proud to offer a very large and diverse line of reliable and economical hanging solutions for the industrial coating world.

Spring Hooks:
Spring hooks are used for hanging products with holes. The coiled spring hook helps to maintain tension longer and you can be sure that products will remain secured on the hook when suspended. Made of hard drawn spring tempered steel, even repeated stripping will not ruin the tension required to hang products. Custom sizes can be ordered and can be made from stainless steel to make them stronger.

Jam hooks are made from stainless steel flat stock or hard drawn wire and are able to maintain tension even after being stripped. The design allows for easy loading and unloading without ruining the hook. Custom hooks can be manufactured for heavier, larger tubing or to hang complex parts.

Tefzel® is Back and Better Than Ever

Remember Tefzel®?  Contrary to some beliefs, the Tefzel® product line was never discontinued, just referred to as ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene). In 2013, DuPont expanded the product line by developing a powder primer (532-6405) and a high-build clear topcoat (532-6410) to compliment the existing Tefzel® products.  The new high build product can be applied to film builds of 80-100 mils, depending upon the job.  ETFE is a rugged thermoplastic with an outstanding balance of properties.  These new coatings are more chemically resistant at higher operating temperatures.  Along with having high thermal stability, when compared to the competition, Tefzel® is extremely tough and electrially insulative with superior adhesion. Tefzel®’s characteristics make the coating an ideal candidate in markets such as chemical processing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and food processing.

So if you come across a specification that requires Tefzel®, feel confident that the product is available and with new formulations that now allow for more options.  When selecting a coating that will provide superior chemical resistance and durability, Tefzel® is the product that coaters and specifiers have depended upon for decades.  In the coating marketplace, there are many solutions you can choose, but Tefzel® is the name you can trust with DuPont’s continued commitment to developing the best products in the market.

Intech Services is the sole distributor of DuPont™ Teflon® industrial coatings.  TEFZEL®/ETFE coatings are in stock and ready to ship next day.  Ordering and technical help is available online, by phone, or by email.  To see or download more information about

Teflon Technical FAQ: Outgassing

Every day at Intech we receive requests for technical help with DuPont Teflon® industrial coatings.  If you have a technical question, please feel free to call and speak to one of our technical sales representatives.  Once a month, we post a frequently asked question here on our blog.

Question: There are little pops in the fluoropolymer coating after curing where air bubbles escaped. What should I do to fix this?

Answer: This is called outgassing. In most cases, this occurs with cast iron or cast metal substrates and can be prevented by preheating the part up to 250°F before applying the Teflon® coating. Preheating the part will release all air that is trapped inside the substrate.

Types of Emergency Eyewash Stations

To make your industrial coating shop as safe as possible, and to prevent as many major accidents as you can, there should be an emergency eyewash station in the shop. There are several different types of emergency eyewash stations to choose from:

Self-Contained Portable Units
If there is no water supply available within about 55 feet of the work site (since ANSI Z358.1 says that
emergency wash stations must be within 10 seconds of an area where an accident may occur), a self-contained portable station would be perfect. This gravity-fed eyewash station can flush eyes for 15 minutes at a minimum rate of .4 gpm and only uses 7 gallons of water. Heated portable units will help prevent freezing in cold shops environments.

Self-Contained Pressurized Units
This is another option if there is no water supply close enough to the work area. When they are installed, they are pressurized, and you can even get a cart for mobility. 10 and 15 gallon pressurized units meet the ANSI Z358.1 minimum flush rate of .4 gpm for 15 minutes.

Plumbed Units
Plumbed units are permanently fixed to source of tap water, so they are attached to a faucet.

Personal Wash Units
These are not to be used as a substitute for a real eyewash station. Personal wash units may be used immediately after an emergency, but the injured person must go to one of the other eyewash stations right away for proper flushing. However, personal units are useful because they can be placed very close to employees and can be used for on-the-spot relief before using a proper fixture.

Inverted Stream Eyewash
Medically, this is the best type of eyewash fixture. The inverted stream flushes the hazardous material away from the drains of the eyes and nasal cavity, therefore reducing the risk of permanent harm.

All types of eyewash stations can help in an emergency, but medical attention should be sought immediately after an accident. Click here to see emergency eyewash station and shower regulations.
