Properties of Teflon: Abrasion Resistance

DuPont Teflon® industrial coatings are highly durable and long lasting performance coatings that have a distinct application process and qualities that offer solutions in a variety of industrial markets.   This series of blogs will highlight one of these inherent properties of Teflon®  coatings and how these properties can solve a variety of problems.

Abrasion Resistance: Abrasion is any scuffs, scratches, or other kind of marring from environmental factors. DuPont™ Teflon® industrial coatings are very resistant to scratches and abrasion due to their excellent durability and toughness. Surface scarring is minimal, especially in certain coatings when fillers are added. Abrasion resistance helps in the food processing industry for chutes because the food must slide over the coating and not harm the surface. ETFE and PFA are the toughest Teflon® coatings.
