DuPont™Teflon® Primers for Fluoropolymer Coatings

DuPont™ Teflon® Primers are an effective way to prepare a surface before coating is applied.  Primers ensure proper adhesion, increase durability, and give additional protection to the substrate.   With the use of our primers, the coating is given a smooth surface to bind to, which creates a more protective layer.  This additional layer decreases porosity of the coating to the substrate.

There are a number of excellent primers designed to provide substrate and intercoat adhesion for Teflon® topcoats. The water and solvent based products allow for processing flexibility for your specific project. It is important to remember that an FDA-conforming primer must be used in conjunction with FDA-conforming topcoats to have a complete FDA-conforming coating system.

Teflon Technical FAQ: Humidity

Every day at Intech we receive requests for technical help with DuPont Teflon® industrial coatings.  If you have a technical question, please feel free to call and speak to one of our technical sales representatives.  Once a month, we post a frequently asked question here on our blog.

Question: The humid weather is causing staining and pops in my DuPont™ Teflon® industrial coating. How do I fix this?

Answer: Conditions can be more challenging depending upon the region in which you do business and whether you coat with solvent or water-based Teflon® coatings. Preheat parts and coat the parts while still warm to avoid water entrapment. Try selecting better times during the day to coat if possible (early morning or evenings), ramp up your moisture control in your shop or spray room, and avoid letting coated parts sit out for extended periods of time after being coated.

If you need more help, call us at 302-366-8530.

Breathe Easy with Reusable Respirators from CoaterONE

3M™ 5000 Series Respirators:
Disposable, Maintenance-Free Protection

3M™ 5000 Series half facepiece respirator has a simple and convenient design with minimal training required. The respirator comes pre-assembled with permanently attached cartridges for gas and vapor protection. You can easily add 3M particulate filters for added air-borne particulate protection. The facepiece is made from soft, lightweight thermoplastic elastomer. 5000 Series half facepiece respirators are ideally suited for intermittent respirator use and dirty applications where respirators wear out or become difficult to clean.
Reusable, Economical Protection

3M™ 6000 Series half and full facepiece respirators can be disassembled, cleaned, and reused, making them very cost efficient for environments that require long-term respirator use. The facepiece is lightweight and comfortable, made from thermoplastic elastomer, and it is very easy to adjust the head straps. Replacement parts can be replaced without difficulty, and cartridges and filters can be thrown away when they are used to capacity.

The Ultimate Reusable Respirator for Comfort and Durability

Like the 6000 Series, 3M 7000 Series half and full facepiece respirators can be disassembled, cleaned, and reused with new cartridges and filters when necessary. The difference between the two series is that the 7000 Series includes a 3M Cool Flow™ Exhalation Valve, which makes breathing easier and reduces heat and moisture buildup inside the facepiece. Also, 7000 Series respirators are more comfortable for long-term wear because of their new Soft Seal Design. The full facepiece offers a double flange face seal and six adjustable straps to make sure it stays in place as long as you need it to.

Other respirator supplies are available here.

Take a Deep Breath... Let CoaterONE Help You Choose the Right Respirator

Choosing a respirator that fits your shop's needs is very important because not all respirators are the same. You must make a decision between disposable or reusable respirators, and make sure that the respirator is equipped with the correct cartridge or filter for the respiratory hazards in the work environment.

Respirator Features
Disposable respirators:
        • Comfort
        • Lightweight composition
        • Adjustable straps
        • Overall economy

        • Replace cartridges and filters, not the entire respirator
        • Filters and cartridges are available for many applications
        • Many styles can be adapted to a PAPR or Supplied Air respirator

Respiratory Hazards
Disposable and reusable respirators can be used to protect you from these harmful substances:

Dusts: Created by sanding, dusting, or sweeping some materials
Fumes: When metal is heated to its boiling point, then cooled again quickly, there will be fumes
Mists: Little drops of a sprayed material stay in the air
Gases: Particles that diffuse freely to fill the container or area they are in
Vapors: Created when liquids evaporate (changing from a liquid state to a gaseous state) or solids sublimate (changing from a solid state to a gaseous state, bypassing the liquid state all together)

For dusts, fumes, and mists, use a particulate filter.
For gases and vapors, use an appropriate chemical cartridge.

Check out our CoaterONE respirator selection and find the right respirator for your shop.

Properties of Teflon: Heat Resistance

DuPont Teflon® industrial coatings are highly durable and long lasting performance coatings that have a distinct application process and qualities that offer solutions in a variety of industrial markets.   This series of blogs will highlight one of these inherent properties of Teflon®  coatings and how these properties can solve a variety of problems.

Heat Resistance: DuPont™ Teflon® industrial coatings can operate continuously at temperatures up to 500°F and can be used up to 550°F intermittently with adequate ventilation. The thermal stability of the coatings means that they can be used in high heat environments without losing or affecting any other properties. High temperature resistance is a significant concern in the food industry because food is processed at a very high temperature. PTFE and PFA have the highest in-use temperatures, but it is not recommended to push the coatings past their maximum temperatures because they will degrade and break down.

Tony's Recipe of the Month: Thanksgiving Fire Pit Sausage

Tony Abato, our VP of Sales here at Intech Services, and an amazing Italian chef, will be sharing one of his delicious recipes every month. Trust us, you don't want to miss out on what Tony's cooking!

Giocchino's Thanksgiving Fire Pit Sausage

Sweet Italian sausage
Yellow onions - cut in big, long pieces
Bell peppers - any color except green, cut in big, long pieces
Bread rolls - big enough to hold a sausage, onions, and peppers

Tin foil - sheet big enough to envelope 6 sausages, onion, and peppers
Olive oil - smeared lightly on tin foil

Combine 4 or 5 sausages, peppers, and onions on a lightly oiled piece of tin foil. Fold and crimp up foil to envelope everything. Place directly on the fire until cooked.

My friend is a magician.

It’s a Saturday after Thanksgiving with two days to recoup behind us. By now everybody’s pretty much turkey’d out. But this day is not about prep work, place settings, and pies.

No, today is all about cracking that two-day food induced cocoon wide open, its about getting back on your horse, and taking a big bold swing at this year’s fourth night of the Thanksgiving Holiday. A long, holiday weekend Saturday night can be a beautiful thing, but you have to work at making it happen.  So in Famiglia mia, for this night we gather the troops.  We cast the sien for the stout of heart. We man the phones.

And here’s the pitch:
“Why don’t you bring your tribe over here tonight?  My son is building a fire outside in the pit as we speak.  We have plenty Thanksgiving stock wine and beer, and plenty of coats and sweat shirts for you after the sun goes down.  My bride is “repurposing” the last of the leftovers for appetizers.

Should my prospect waiver with my pitch as delivered; I go directly to the close:
I say, “Giocchino Pane is coming over,”. . . (and here I pause for effect) . . . then I say, “he’s bringing his Thanksgiving sausage.”

When I play the Giocchino card and I my close rate is a 100%.

On this night years ago my friend Giocchino Pane rolled into the yard with a pile of tin foil envelopes full of sausage, onions and peppers.  Deftly, without introduction or oration he waded through all of us seated around the fire and placed the envelopes, positioning each for maximum heat – minimal flameWhen ready, we produced a big white deep-dish porcelain-serving tray where he displayed with a flourish each silver packet’s steaming contents.

Today, Giocchino’s Thanksgiving Saturday sausage is as much a family tradition as my Gramom’s Christmas ravioli, as much as my Cari Marie’s Thanksgiving ciabatta and pancetta stuffing. Goes to show ya . . . there’s magic in every meal.

Volunteer Day 2014

Last week, we had the first volunteer day at Intech Services.  We are working hard to be intentional about giving back to our community.  We have chosen a few local charities to support more consistently as a company.  One of those organizations is the Sunday Breakfast Mission.  The Sunday Breakfast Mission is a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, food bank, and rehabilitation center for homelessness. Last Thursday, we had 2 groups from Intech Services served by sorting donated food, packing boxes for their upcoming Thanksgiving event where they give out over 1200 thanksgiving food boxes to needy families in the community.  We had a lot of fun working together to serve the surrounding community in Delaware.

Getting The Right Oven: Determining Chamber Size

Determining industrial oven size is directly correlated with process needs. Factors to consider when determining the proper oven chamber size are:

  • Size of the product or parts
  • Number of products in each batch
  • Spacing required between multiple parts
  • Method of material handling – ensuring there is enough room to move the product in and out of the oven safely

Once these factors are determined, an approximate chamber size can be decided. Flawed results will occur if the interior chamber is too small and there is insufficient space between parts.  If the chamber is too large, both time and energy are wasted.

Contact a Precision Quincy representative for more information on determining oven chamber size and oven selection at (302) 602-8738 or
